The newly appointed Pro and vice chancellors of the University of Buea were today 10 July 2017, commissioned into their respective offices, by the Minister of higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo.
The occasion which took place at the University campus was graced by top government officials in the South West Region, traditional rulers, clergymen and women, top academic staffs from the University and beyond, and we’ll wishers who all came to witness the event.
The minister of Higher Education who presided over the event, used the opportunity to thank the out going VC prof Nalova Lyonga for her devotedness and sacrifice in service for the University and to the state. He equally urged her to always make herself available for use, anytime it is required for the benefit of the institution or state, despite the fact that she retires from office.
Furthermore, the new Pro-chancellor, Ako Edward Oben was commissioned into office by the Minister of Higher Education and he takes over from Prof. Maurice Ntuente who moves on to serve in the same capacity at the Yaoundé I University.

On the other hand, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo also commissioned the new VC Prof. Horace Ngomo Manga and cautioned him to work relentlessly for the prosperity of the institution in particular and the nation at large. As a point of contact, the new boss was cautioned to ensure security and prosperity of the institution are prime in his administration.
The minister equally used the platform to caution the new UB boss to ensure whatever concerns students should be delivered in time to avoid the saga of last October where students took the streets following the delay of the presidential grants by the then administration.
While UB celebrates it new Pro and Vice Chancellors, thumbs remain up and fingers crossed for a brighter tomorrow.
